Acer is a company that has been known to create quality laptops and computers. But, they’ve since ventured into the mobile phone niche and they’ve actually offered some pretty good mobile phones.
In today’s article, we are going to talk about the Acer Liquid Jade. This mobile phone was released in 2014, but it is still pretty much relevant in today’s mobile phone standards.
The thing that most people love about Acer’s mobile phones is the fact that they offer really good performance and that they are much cheaper than other, more prominent brands on the market.
The design of the Acer Liquid Jade is rather odd as it has a curved back that is unlike any other mobile phone today. It does, however, prevent the phone from slipping from your hands, which is a good thing. I have sweaty palms and it is a little bit problematic for me when a phone doesn’t have curvatures to help with the overall grip.
This mobile phone has a faux-metal frame that covers the entire sides of the phone. It feels premium and it does add to the appeal of the mobile phone.
On the top side of the phone lies the power button and a headphone jack. At the bottom of the phone lies the microUSB charging port. To the left of the device is where the dual micro-SIM slot is located and to the right are the volume controls.
As for the display, the Acer Liquid Jade comes with a 5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 and it also has a pixel count of 294ppi. Considering that this was a phone that was released in 2014, at its time, the features are already mind-boggling. IPS displays are very good especially when you want to look at images and movies.
Since this is an Android phone, mobile phone companies can populate the phone with their own proprietary apps. In this case, the camera app, messaging app, and contacts list are all sporting the Acer look. They’ve also included a file management app, a photo gallery app, and a cloud storage service in this phone as well.
For me personally, I do not love pre-installed software as most of them are not suitable for my needs. Plus, some bloatware that comes with mobile phones cannot be uninstalled unless you root the phone (which voids your warranty).
The Acer Liquid Jade is also shipped with the Quad-core MediaTek Processor with 1.3GHz clock speeds and it is also coupled with 1GB of RAM. 1GB of RAM can be limiting, especially with today’s apps. But it still provides a nearly lag-free experience.
This mobile phone comes with a 2,100 MaH battery life which should last you more than a day with moderate use.
And lastly, the Acer Liquid Jade is powerful, albeit placed in the middle portion of the back cover. This mobile phone comes with a 13-megapixel snapper without any other technologies. It can, however, take some good photos, provided that you are well-lit environments.
The Acer Liquid Jade is a good mid-range phone and it is pretty much relevant, even in the modern times.
